Navy Display Cabinet

This display unit desk had the pigeon holes removed from the desk area and a total modern update resulting in it finding a new home as a display unit in Pickwick’s Designer Boutique in Nantwich, Cheshire.

This statuesque piece of utility furniture was built in the mid 1940’s when wood was in short supply. At that time all designs had to be submitted to the government, indicating the man hours it would take to build, the cost of labour and what materials would be used.

Only a few designs were allowed and this was in part to help people resume a new life after the ravages of WWII.
